Among all types of alcohol, sake can seem a little intimidating. However, at the sake bar YATA on the basement floor of the Dai Nagoya Building, you can take your first step into sake in a casual style. It has a casual atmosphere where you can just drop in, but it is a serious bar that only serves pure rice sake and unpasteurized sake (namazake). Why not try your first sake at YATA, where you can experience the "sake-ness" of sake? This time, we tried the "sake tasting course" during dinner time.

Enjoy the fresh taste of freshly pressed "Namazake" and experience the freshness of Japanese sake.

Namazake retains the freshness of freshly pressed sake, which is the very essence of Japanese sake. You can enjoy the pure taste of Japanese sake to your heart's content. Rika, who is familiar with Japanese sake on a regular basis, chose the "Sake Tasting Course" (2,200We asked them to try the 2018 test (10,000 yen).

The vividly painted Kutani ware used in the store is eye-catching and some of it is available for purchase, allowing you to feel the essence of Japanese culture.

As the name suggests, you can enjoy comparing the unique characteristics of each brand in a sake tasting atmosphere.

The "Sake Tasting Course" is45This is a course where you can compare as many different types of sake as you like for a period of 15 minutes.1Per brand1Cup (50 mlAs the name suggests, you can enjoy the differences between brands in a "sake tasting" style.1For my second drink, I ordered something from the lineup that caught my eye not because of the cover, but because of the label. I chose "Manatsu no Kajitsu," which has a label depicting a lychee, and is very summery. "Manatsu no Kajitsu," produced by Kami Kokoro Sake Brewery in Okayama Prefecture, is a limited edition "summer-brewed" sake that has the brewery's specialty of a sweet, refreshing, fruity taste. Next,2The second cup read,1She said, "I want something with a sharper taste (dry) than the first glass," and chose "Imanishiki Nakagawamura no Tamako," which has a cool, clear blue bottle. "Imanishiki Nakagawamura no Tamako," produced by Yonezawa Shuzo in Nagano Prefecture, is a "summer Tamako" born in the beautiful farming village of Nakagawamura in Kamiina County, Nagano Prefecture. It is characterized by its refreshing, fresh acidity and spiciness, and a good aftertaste, and Rika says, "It's easy to drink and feels good to drink."1Therefore, it is said to be ideal as a drink to enjoy with food.

The first drink was the Midsummer Fruit [Junmai Ginjo Unfiltered Unpasteurized Sake], whose label design caught Rika’s eye.

Just as the label design suggests, it has a fruity and refreshing taste. In sake brewing, a year runs from July 1st to June 7th of the following year, so "Manatsu no Kajitsu" (fruits squeezed in mid-July) is known as "the earliest freshly squeezed sake in Japan."

This time, I tried all the brands chilled, but they also serve hot sake. I would recommend trying them hot, as it seems the flavor changes when you drink them hot.

For the second glass, we asked him to choose a brand that was drier than the first. The Blue Label "Imanishiki Nakagawamura no Tamako [Special Junmai Namasake]" is a rare seasonal product.

Rika also seemed to like the refreshing taste of Imanishiki Nakagawamura no Tamako, saying that she could drink it easily.

In between, I ordered the "Drink Accompaniment [choice of two types]" (300 yen). The popular dried sardines with Japanese pepper and spicy cod roe were great accompaniments, and I moved on to my third drink. In addition to this, there are about 3 types of snacks on the menu at all times.

Only by comparing the tastes can you find the one that suits you best. The SOLOYATA campaign is running until the end of September!

The last of today1Become a cup3For the second drink, Rika-san ordered something "even drier." The "Harushika" that the staff chose for us is a luxurious unpressed unpasteurized sake, commonly known as "Ura Harushika," made by Imanishi Seibei Shoten in Nara Prefecture. It has a dry minerality, a thick mouthfeel, and a sharp, crisp flavor.1cup.3Of the brands she tried, Rika's favorite was the ease of drinking that impressed her.2The first drink was "Imanishiki Tamako from Nakagawa Village". On this day,12There were many brands on display, but they were replaced as they ran out, so you could encounter some rare brands that might only be available that day.45Average per minute8~10It seems that many customers only drink a certain brand. The third drink is the particularly dry "Harushika [unpressed, medium-sized, pure rice, super dry, unpasteurized]" from today's lineup. This is a super limited edition "Ura Harushika" that is sold wholesale only to select liquor stores by Imanishi Seibei Shoten in Nara Prefecture.

With the "Sake Tasting Course", you can try comparing different types of sake, something you can't easily do at an izakaya. Find your favorite flavor by comparing different types, and become addicted to sake.
