On Monday, March 16, 2026, Shokudo Tomoru opened on the B1F of the Dai Nagoya Building. This "everyday" diner, where you can enjoy set meals featuring freshly cooked rice in an earthenware pot and seasonal side dishes, is a long-awaited establishment for the office workers of the Dai Nagoya Building. The deliciousness, which can be said to be the origin of Japanese food, will satisfy both your stomach and your heart. A sanctuary-like diner that will be in high demand from morning till night has been born!

It starts with freshly cooked rice and miso soup, the "Silver Salmon Set Meal."

A "neighborhood diner" that you can visit daily has opened on the B1F of the Dai Nagoya Building. The main focus is on set meals featuring rice cooked in an earthenware pot and seasonal side dishes.[Dining room Toru]Based on the concept of a "second dining table," this restaurant delivers familiar flavors that are somehow comforting to Japanese people. The signature dish is the "Silver Salmon Set Meal," which can be said to be the most basic of all set meals. The fatty silver salmon is grilled to perfection using only natural salt from Okinawa, resulting in a dish that you might call the finest salt-grilled salmon. You'll also have to think hard about which to choose between this and Saikyo-yaki, which is marinated in Saikyo miso from Ishino, a long-established miso brewery in Kyoto. This "Japanese set meal," centered around freshly cooked rice in an earthenware pot and clam miso soup, is a new option for your daily life in the Dai Nagoya Building.

The signature dish at [Shokudo Akari] is the "Silver Salmon Set Meal" (2,420 yen). You can choose between salt-grilled or Saikyo-style grilled salmon. The thick, fatty grilled salmon pairs perfectly with the rice cooked in an earthenware pot. Another noteworthy point is that the miso soup is made with clams.

Placing salmon pieces on rice and making it into ochazuke (rice with tea) makes it a perfect way to finish off a set meal.

Open from 8 AM, this restaurant is one of the few in the Dai Nagoya Building to offer morning service. During breakfast hours until 11 AM, in addition to their signature "Silver Salmon Set Meal" (2,420 yen), you can also order the "Ise Sea Bream Set Meal with Sea Bream Rice Soup and Uwajima Rice" (1,870 yen) and the "One Soup, Six Dishes Set Meal" (1,980 yen). The "One Soup, Six Dishes Set Meal" is a special set meal available only in the morning. Six small dishes, including Ise sea bream sashimi, salmon yukke-style, and grilled mackerel, make for a luxurious breakfast. After 11 AM, the restaurant transitions from lunchtime to dinnertime, offering a full lineup of set meals. Furthermore, starting in early June, they plan to also function as a "drinking diner," offering local sake and obanzai (Kyoto-style home cooking) after 5 PM. In addition to set meals, they also offer individual small dishes of obanzai (Kyoto-style home cooking), making it a place where people who want a full meal and those who just want a drink can comfortably spend time together.
